Vietnam clears rumours of unsanitary Tra fish farming process
At the 2017 Seafood Expo Global in Brussels, Belgium, Vietnam's Directorate of Fisheries, Vietnam's Trade Office, and various seafood associations in Vietnam, held a press conference to explain the process of farming in the country.
This was aimed at stopping the decline of Vietnamese tra fish imports to Europe after rumours that tra fish farming causes pollution spread. At the conference, representatives of Vietnam's seafood associations all affirmed that Vietnamese tra fish, prior to being imported to Europe, is carefully examined based on strict sanitary standards. Currently, Vietnamese tra fish is in fierce competition in the European market. The adverse information on Vietnam's tra fish farming has caused hesitance among some European importers. Despite this, tra fish was the main Vietnamese seafood product introduced at the 2017 Seafood Expo Global.
